Welcome Back Chase STEMM Academy
Parent Newsletter 8.2021
Mrs. Allen
Please allow me to welcome you to the new school year! We are looking forward to a great school year, and we know it will be the best one yet! We are honored to take on the responsibility of equipping all students with the necessary tools for success. We ask that you join us in this endeavor of ensuring our students take advantage of every learning opportunity in the classroom and their homes.
The year will be filled with numerous opportunities for parents to get involved. We know the importance of the home-school partnership. We will continue to explore ways to strengthen this partnership throughout the year through communication and collaboration. Daily, we will renew our commitment to meeting our diverse student population's social, emotional, and academic needs. Thank you for being a member of the Chase STEMM Academy family.

Hello Chase STEMM Academy! I am Mrs. Johnoff, your new Art Specialist. I am looking forward to working with the Chase staff and your children to understand the role of art and creativity as it relates to other subjects. My goal is to help your students make the most of their individual strengths and use their imaginations to creatively find new solutions to existing problems. I look forward to many hands-on building and design projects that challenge and excite your students. I have been teaching art to international, national, and local students for 20 years. iReady
I am excited to share that we are implementing a Mathematic and Reading] program called i-Ready. Below, you will find information about the program and how we will be using it in the classroom.
What is i-Ready?
i-Ready is an online program that will help us determine your child’s strengths and areas for growth, personalize their learning and monitor their progress throughout the school year. i-Ready allows us to meet your child where they are and provides us with data to inform instruction.
The i-Ready Diagnostic is an adaptive assessment that adjusts its questions to suit your child’s needs. Each item a student receives is based on their answer to the previous question. For example, a series of correct answers will result in slightly harder questions, while a series of incorrect answers will yield slightly easier ones. The purpose of this is not to give your child a score or grade but to determine how to best support their learning.
i-Ready Instruction provides students with lessons based on their individual strengths and areas for growth. These lessons are interactive and provide strategic supports to keep your child engaged as they learn.
Benefits of iReady
Transportation Portal
Dear Toledo Public Schools Parents and Caregivers:
Our school district is excited to announce that you now have access to a revolutionary smartphone app that helps to improve communication, school bus safety, and efficiency. The Transportation Portal (aka Edulog Parent Portal) app provides you with planned time and location information for your child’s bus ride to school. On a daily basis, the app will show you the GPS location of the bus and send you a push notification when it is nearing your bus stop.
This app is free of charge for our parents, caregivers, and students. In addition to displaying the location of your bus and sending the notifications, you can also receive time-sensitive messages from our transportation department. You will also receive a notification when a substitute bus is running your route due to scheduled maintenance on your regular bus, for example.
The Transportation Portal (aka Edulog Parent Portal) app integrates with our school bus routing system, which is also provided by Education Logistics, Inc. (Edulog), a premier provider of school bus technology. School bus locations are sent from a GPS device installed on each bus which not only provides up-to-date information for you, but also for our school bus maintenance staff who need to know the real-time location of each bus for maintenance and other service requirements.
The app can be downloaded from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store – either of which can be accessed by pointing your smartphone camera at this QR code:
Security is important. Only you have access to your student’s transportation information through the app via a secure login process. You must know your student’s school of attendance, ID number, and date of birth in addition to the exact spelling of his or her first name and last name.
Please know that our goal is to provide safe and efficient transportation for all Toledo Public Schools children riding the school bus. By improving communication and expanding the information available to you by implementing this app, we are working hard to meet and exceed that goal.
Additional information about using the transportation Portal (aka Edulog Parent Portal) is available on our website at:
https://www.tps.org/departments/transportation_services
If you have additional questions regarding the app, please contact our transportation department at: 419-671-8541
See the Parent Portal pdf below for step-by-step directions to download the app
